Expo 86 BC Pavilion: Documents (1986)

Attached are two documents, one explains the performance groups from the Peace Region that performed at Expo 86 in Vancouver. Also attached is a document that shows Milestones along the Alaska Highway. It shows what you would see if you were to drive the whole highway.

North Peace Potter’s Guild Advertisement (Year Unknown)

The North Peace Potter’s Guild is a member group of the Fort St. John Community Arts Council. Their studio space at the Artspost is where they hold classes, workshops, and more. In this file is an advertisement (year unknown) for the guild’s handmade pottery mugs for sale, as well as the upcoming children and adult classes.

NEAT: Building the Environmental Education Centre (c. 2006)

The Northern Environmental Action Team began in 1989 and is an organization based in Fort St. John. Their mission and goal is to create meaningful change in the environmentalism of a community by educating and inspiring individuals to choose more sustainable methods in their everyday activities. This file is a sample of the organization’s proposal to build an Environmental Education Centre (circa 2006). Some of the topics discussed include an introduction to NEAT, their achievements, and the benefits of building the centre.

Fort St. John’s NEAT Publications (2006-2007)

The Northern Environmental Action Team (NEAT) is an organization based in Fort St. John. Their mission is to educate and inspire communities to adopt sustainable habits into their lifestyle. They do so through their programs, events, and volunteer opportunities. In this catalogue are various documents relating to NEAT. This includes a letter from the City of Fort St. John supporting the concept of a Environmental Education Centre (2006), a NEAT committee report (2007), and newspaper clippings.

Expo 86: Thank You Letter to Sue (1986)

After Expo 86, Brad Macher wrote Sue a handwritten letter thanking her for a gift she sent him as well as expressing how amazing the Peace Region’s performances were.

Double EXPOsure (c. 1986)

Attached is an invitation to “Double EXPOsure” put on by the Artspace. It was a double art exhibit with drawings by Peter Vogelaar and photographs by Ted Phillips.

City of Fort St. John Tourism Magazine (Year Unknown)

This catalogue (year unknown) contains a magazine promoting the City of Fort St. John. It advertises the many features that the city has to offer. It has general statistics such as the average residential property values and the population projections. In addition to that, it covers Fort St. John’s success as a business centre, the recreational facilities, as well as the city’s education and health services.

Expo 86 BC Pavilion and Regional Juried Art Exhibit: News Articles (1986)

Expo ’86 was an event located in Vancouver, British Columbia. The World Fair was held from May 2 until October 13, 1986. “Transportation and Communication: World in Motion – World in Touch” was the theme of the event. It was only the second time that Canada held the World Fair. Attached are news articles from the planning to the production of Expo 86. The catalogue included the integral role played by Sue Popesku in the event’s success. Also included in this catalogue is news of the 1986 Regional Juried Art Show held that year at the Dawson Creek Art Gallery, a program of the Peace Liard Regional Arts Council.

Expo ’86 was an event located in Vancouver, British Columbia. The World Fair was held from May 2 until October 13, 1986. It was only the second time that Canada held the World Fair. Attached are thank you cards and invitations that Sue had received from Expo 86 as well as a card she sent to Expo 86 organizers. Also included is an invitation to the Expo 86 Visual Arts Expedition, “Images BC.”

Alaska Highway Rendezvous ’92 Committee Photos (1992)

Rendezvous ’92 was the 50th Anniversary celebration of the construction of the Alaska Highway. This catalogue has photographs of some of the committee and activities during the event. This includes a performance at the North Peace Secondary School, a parade, and activities at the Fort St. John North Peace Museum.

Fort St. John Hospital Foundation Be An Angel Publications (2005)

The Fort St. John Hospital Foundation was established in 1994. Their mission is to continually improve the hospital’s medical care and enhance patient’s comfort. They have been able to achieve this goal through the dedication of fundraising and volunteers. In this catalogue are publications/media releases of one of their events, the Be An Angel campaign in 2005. It is an annual fundraiser and gala event. Sue Popesku was the Foundation’s Executive Director at that time.
