Fort St. John Hospital Foundation Articles (2015 – 2016)

The following are news articles and current events involving the hospital from 2015 – 2016. In 2015 the Fort St. John Hospital Auxiliary raised $35 000 for an art project to decorate the hospital. In 2016 after eight years the executive director, Ashley Bentley, resigned from her position. Vicky Hermans was 100 years old and crocheted baby blankets for new born babies at the hospital for around 20 years.

Fort St. John Hospital Articles (1977)

The following are news articles and current events involving the Fort St. John Hospital from 1977 including that year’s New Year’s baby and the Hospital Board Directors and the Sisters of the Providence Hospital. Gossiping about the hospital in Fort St. John was popular in 1977; many people would comment about the hospital and talk about things they disliked. A new drug dispensing system was put into place at the Peace Lutheran Care Home, donated by the Hospital W.A.

The following are news articles and current events involving the Fort St. John Hospital from 1976. 1976 was a busy year, with the Candy Stripers program and a newly growing hospital. In 1975 the new Fort St. John Hospital opened its doors. There was fear and belief that the X-ray machines were faulty but it was proven to the public that there was nothing to worry about. There was also public belief that the breakdown of fans could cause infectious back-draft. There was a Candy Stripers conference that brought together many teenagers from across the Peace Region.

Fort St. John Hospital Articles (1991 – 1994)

The following are news articles and current events involving the hospital from 1991 – 1994. In 1991 the Fort St. John General Hospital was recognized for its service by the Canadian Council on Health Facilities Accreditation. In 1992 the hospital staff starts to fear the threat of cuts and attempts were made to balance the hospital budget. In 1993 the Eye Clinic was presented with a cheque of $20 000 by Egon Weger. The third birthing bed was presented to the Fort St. John Hospital as part of a $30 000 neo-natal unit in 1994. There is also news on the Ric Wilson Mammography Fund and the Hospital Auxiliary.

Fort St. John Hospital Articles (1960-1962)

The following are news articles and current events involving the hospital from 1960 – 1962. In 1960 the Hospital W.A. Easter Saturday tea gave away a nurse doll to a young girl. All hospital progress was recorded and passed onto the Board of Trustees. The statistics from 1961 explained that Fort St. John was a very good place to raise children with 428 births, 48 deaths and 64 marriages.

On January 1, 1984 Fort St. John’s first baby of the year was born. Darren and Bonnie Gruenke gave birth to a baby girl.
