Theatre is one of the many performing arts entertainment available in Fort St. John. The following files contain newspaper clippings regarding theatre in the community. These articles mainly pertain to general news from the Stage North Theatre Society and some of their productions including The Frog Galliard, Fiddler on the Roof, and Arsenic and Old Lace, as well as an article on the Fort St. John Elementary School’s play. The articles also include the cancellation of the Performing Arts Department (which originally created Stage North) at Northern Lights College in 1984.The articles include a need for adequate space to audition and produce plays.
Fort St. John has a lively arts community, particular the performing arts. Local groups have hosted and participated in many dance, theatre, and music performances throughout the years. In this catalogue are photographs of various dance events and recitals of local groups. This includes competitions and festivals such as the Fort St. John Dance Festival, and performances at the senior’s centre.
Fort St. John’s art gallery, Peace Gallery North, houses many of the community’s local artwork, as well as hosting a variety of exhibitions. In this catalogue are invitations to some of those exhibitions such as Beth Ardill, Helen Smith, and Susan Wuthrich’s, “Off the Wall” exhibition and the North Peace Spinners and Weavers’, “Wool, Willow & Web” exhibition.
The Banner Project is a juried art competition for students in the Fort St. John community. It invites children to submit their original artwork under a particular theme. The chosen pieces will then be placed onto banners and displayed throughout the city. In this catalogue is a letter and information sheet for the 2001 Banner Project.
Fort St. John and the surrounding area have a lively arts, culture, and heritage community. There have been a variety of events, programs, and celebrations throughout the years. This catalogue contains newspaper clippings of arts, culture, and heritage news in the city. For example, articles about Canada Day’s Art in the Park celebration and the Art That Moves You program. Chocolate Festival, The Peace Country Craftman’s craft show, and the recipient of the 2005 Community Arts Champion Award, the Fort St. John Community Arts Council.

Attached are newspaper articles involving the Fort St. John Community Arts Council throughout the year of 2009. Articles include events related to the Flower Pot Project and Elves Christmas and Festival of Trees Gala.
In 2009 there was a lot going on involving local dance studios ad dancers. Local dancers were traveling to different places for different dance opportunities. Local studios brought in guest teachers to teach many different styles including hip hop and breakdancing.
Attached are newspaper articles about the Hospital Foundation in 2009. In November the Be an Angel Annual Campaign started and the new hospital started its construction.
Attached are news article clippings about Stage North Theatre Society including productions of Rabbit Hole and Legoland as well as their support of Relay for Life. Stage North’s Director, Producer and actor attended Theatre BC’s Mainstage in Maple Ridge. They ended up winning awards and honorable mentions at the Mainstage events.
Attached are newspaper articles about the North Peace Potters Guild including the Chili Bowl Bash and a craft sale at Dr. Kearney School.
Attached are newspaper articles about Irish dancers and Highland dancers in Fort St. John. Watts School of Irish Dance went to World Championships. Dancers from the Pomeroy Academy of Irish Dance performed at the Super Walk for Parkinson’s disease. The North Peace Highland Dance Society Competition took place in centennial park.

This includes articles such as the Peace River Zone High School Drama Festival, a Peace Country Highland Dancers’ performance, and a Peace Gallery North art auction. The articles also include the opening of the North Peace Cultural Centre and its first anniversary. Also included are articles on several community awards received by Sue Popesku during these years.
