Fort St. John Community Arts Council’s Airing the Arts (1992)

There are two documents in this file pertaining to the Airing the Arts event. The first is a letter from October 1992. It is the Fort St. John Community Arts Council seeking assistance in raising funds in order to support the event. The second document is a newspaper advertisement for Airing the Arts from October 28 (circa 1991). Airing the Arts was a fundraiser for the Fort St. John Community Arts Council.

Fort St. John Community Arts Council Letter (1992)

A letter from Fort St. John Community Arts Council to its Member Groups from September 29, 1992. The letter discusses the success of their new facility as well as future projects and general announcements.

Fort St. John Community Arts Council’s Insight into the Arts (1994)

Insight into the Arts was published four times a year by the Fort St. John Community Arts Council. This Fall 1994 issue mentions the wearable fashion show from the Assembly of B.C. Arts Councils Conference. It explains what the community arts council does and discusses important dates coming up for the arts community.

The pamphlet welcomes the delegates to the 1994 Assembly of BC Arts Councils Conference, hosted that  year in Fort St. John. The document highlights points of interest in the community. On the second page there is a map of Fort St. John drawn by a local cartoonist, Blair Thorson. Blair penned a few fun cartoon sketches of his view of the north for the conference.

Fort St. John Community Arts Council Annual Responsibilities and Events (1990-1991)

These set of documents list the Fort St. John Community Arts Council’s annual responsibilities and the events for the year. Responsibilities include activities throughout the year, grants, and other logistics. In addition to that are the documents of Fort St. John’s Annual Community Events from 1990 and 1991. They list the events occurring during each month of the year.

Assembly of BC Arts Council Conference Coming to Fort St. John (1994)

This newspaper article talks about the Assembly of B.C. Arts Councils Conference in Fort St. John. The conference is an annual event hosted by Fort St. John in 1994. 120 Delegates attended from outside the region and around 30 locally. Sue Popesku said the main focus of the 1994 assembly was to deal with arts councils and their relationships with local governments.

Fort St. John What’s On Group and Event Updates (1992)

Multiple documents of updates regarding various art groups and events in 1992. It includes a media release of the upcoming exhibits from the Peace Gallery North and updates from the Music Department of the Northern Lights College. The remainder of the documents are ‘What’s On’ newsletters dating from August 1992 to December 1992.
