Art News Articles in the Peace Region (2007)

Attached are newspaper clippings related to arts in the Peace River Region in 2007. There are news articles about local events and artists as well as “Artspeak”  by Aleisha Hendry where she talks about art rather than art events. Also attached is “Pipeline to the Arts” which talks about different events going on in the community including the Muskwa Kechika Artist Camp. Also included are the results of the Rivers Day Photo Contest co-sponsored by the Northern Environmental Action Team and the Peace Valley Environmental Association.

Literacy Society News Articles (2007)

Attached are newspaper articles about literacy in the Peace Region including articles about the Literacy Society looking for funding. Also included is an Arts Speak column and news of the Taylor Public Library opening in June after four years of planning. Articles also include a photo from the Sweetwater905 Festival and the formation of the Northeast Library Federation in which all libraries in the region joined except for the Dawson Creek Public Library.

Fort St. John Community Arts Council: Annual General Meetings (2012-2015)

The Fort St. John Community Arts Council is a non-profit, volunteer organization that began in 1967. Since then, they have worked towards implementing a lasting arts and heritage environment for the city. This catalogue has a collection of minutes from the Arts Council’s Annual General Meetings from 2012-2015. This includes notes for events such as, concerts from the Northern Lights Choirs and reports from member groups like the FSJ Irish Dance Society.

North Peace Spinners and Weavers Guild: News Articles (2007)

Attached are newspaper articles about the North Peace Spinners and Weavers. In August 2007, at the North Peace Fall Fair,  the president of the Spinners and Weavers put on a demonstration in front of a log cabin built in 1928.

The District of Taylor (2007)

The attached newspaper articles are about the District of Taylor. They relate to the opening of the Taylor Public Library and Taylor council wanting to open up its own museum.

Fort St. John Child Development Centre Talent Show (2007)

Attached are newspaper clippings from Fort St. John’s Child Development Centre talent show. A news article by Hardy Friedrich talks about how the CDC is relying on the talent show to bring in donations. There is also an advertisement for the talent show attached with information and details about the show in 2007.

Stage North News Clippings (2007)

Attached are newspaper articles involving Stage North Theatre Society. Throughout the year there were shows, audition calls, dinner theaters, and advertisements including top prizes won at the Mainstage Festival in Kamloops for the play The Monument.

School District No. 60 News Articles (2007)

Attached are news paper articles from schools around Fort St. John, Alwin Holland, Robert Ogilvie Central and North Peace Secondary. The news articles highlight activities the children and faculty did throughout the school year in 2007 which included plays and a performance by the Maxwell Workshop Dancers.

Fort St. John Country Quilters (2007)

The attached news articles relate to the Fort St. John Country Quilters from 2007. In May, Peace Gallery North had an exhibit called “Pieces of the Heart” by the Fort St. John Country Quilters. In June, Quilters were invited to the Sew it Yourself Shop to participate in Northcott’s Quest for a Cure Quilt Marathon for the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation.

Stage North Theatre Society Meeting Minutes (2014-2018)

The Stage North Theatre Society was formed in 1977, initially as part of the Northern Lights College Fine Arts Department. Since then, the organization has grown to become a vital source of theatre entertainment for the Peace River Region. They perform many plays and host a number of workshops each year. This catalogue contains notes from some of their meetings. It includes information such as feedback for workshops, scheduling for the next season, and planning for shows.

Peace River Alaska Highway Marketing Plan (1997)

The attached document is the Peace River Alaska Highway Marketing Plan from 1997 prepared for Tourism BC. The document contains the business overview, the situation analysis, the regional overview, expenditure and performance analysis and key objectives and strategies.

Assembly of BC Arts Councils: Sue Popesku’s Cultural Leadership Award (1994)

The board of directors of the Assembly of British Columbia Arts Councils presented the Cultural Leadership Award to Sue Popesku in 1994. The award was given in recognition of her contributions and influence in the advancement of the arts throughout British Columbia. This catalogue is a copy of that certificate.

Peace Liard Regional Juried Art Exhibit (1995)

The annual Regional Juried Art Exhibit is a program of the Peace Liard Regional Arts Council that provides an opportunity for the region’s artists to take part in a juried exhibit. The event includes a juried exhibition along with workshops. In 1995, the exhibit was hosted in Dawson Creek. This catalogue includes an invitation and a list of artists who submitted their work.

Peace Liard Regional Juried Art Exhibit (2001)

The annual Regional Juried Art Exhibit is a program of the Peace Liard Regional Arts Council and provides an opportunity for the region’s artists to take part in a juried exhibit. The event includes a juried exhibition as well as workshops. In 2001, the RJAE was hosted by Dawson Creek. This catalogue is a copy of the call for entry.
