- Peace River North Festival of the Arts
Stage North Theatre Society is a volunteer-based theatre company. They are based in Fort St. John and provide entertainment, as well as learning opportunities for the Peace River Region. This file contains letters from 2016-2019 inviting sponsorships for the organization. Additionally, there is brief mention of some of the upcoming productions such as “The Alcan Craze of ’42” and “Tony and Tina’s Wedding,”
Since 1932, Theatre BC has promoted community theatre in the province. Through education, participation, and by fostering a welcoming environment, they have been able to encourage an exploration into theatre. The Peace River Zone Theatre Festival is one of the opportunities they offer. This file contains the program for the festival, featuring groups such as Stage North and Bridge to Broadway.
These photos are from Sue Popesku’s 40th birthday. Sue turned 40 on April 8, 1988.
1982 was the year of Alaska Highway’s 40th anniversary. This file contains a poster for the celebration of this milestone.
The Stage North Theatre Society is a volunteer-based theatre company in Fort St. John. Their mission is to provide entertainment for the Peace River Region, as well as give learning opportunities for those interested in theatre and the performing arts. In this catalogue are a collection of programs and a poster from some of Stage North’s productions. This includes “Mary’s Wedding,” “Always Patsy Cline,” and “She Kills Monsters.”
Studio 2 Stage Dance Academy is a dance company in Fort St. John. They offer many classes ranging in difficulty and for all ages. The following file contains two posters advertising their kids Summer Dance Camp and their 2019 registration.
The Fort St. John Community Artwalk is a celebration of the visual arts in the city. Beginning in 2013 for the 20th Anniversary of the North Peace Cultural Centre, the event has continued to grow. It promotes local artists and businesses in the downtown area of the city by providing a space for their artwork to be displayed. This catalogue contains a collection of brochures, a poster, and artist and business invitations for the event.
Attached are photos from Stage North’s production of “I Do, I Do.” The show was in March of 1988.
The following photos were taken at the Fort St. John North Peace Museum in 1985. They were taken only a year after the grand opening on February 16, 1984.
These photos are from 1982 and show what was happening at the Fort St. John Arts Council throughout 1982.
In 2018, the musical theatre students of North Peace Secondary School put on a production of the Broadway musical, “Mamma Mia!” This catalogue is compiled of a ticket, program, and newspaper clipping for the show.
Attached are photos of the Cultural Centre just a year after it opened its doors. The Cultural Centre opened in 1992 and the photos are from 1993. The pictures show the design of the building.
The Studio 2 Stage Dance Academy is a dance company that offers a wide range of classes for all ages, at a recreational and competitive level. As part of the classes, they hold many performances and recitals, one of which includes The Nutcracker. This catalogue contains a collection of programs and a poster from their 2012, 2014, and 2018 productions, which were done in partnership with the Northern Dance Theatre Society and the Stage North Theatre Society.
The 2006 Cultural Scan was a survey conducted in order gain a better understanding of the culture in Fort St. John. The areas of focus were arts, sports/health/wellness, heritage, education, and business, with organizations from each sector responding to the survey. This file contains the data and results from the survey, which were compiled by the Fort St. John Community Arts Council.
