- Peace River North Festival of the Arts
A collection of material from Peace Liard Regional Arts Council’s 2019 Artist in Residence program. Karl Mattson was selected for that year’s program by jurors Paul Crawford and Peter von Tiesenhausen. Recognition and mentorship were also provided to mary mottishaw and Barbara Swail. This catalogue includes a number of items including a press release and exhibition catalogues. The 2019 AIR exhibit was held at the Dawson Creek Art Gallery in August of 2020.
A collection of material from Peace Liard Regional Arts Council’s 2020 Artist in Residence program. Haley Bassett was selected for that year’s program by juror’s Genevieve Robertson and Jennifer Bowes. This catalogue includes a number of items including newspaper articles, an exhibition catalogue, and more. The 2020 AIR exhibit was held at Peace Gallery North in August of 2021.

Attached are photos from the Fort St, John Weather Station in 1988.
There are many performing arts opportunities in Fort St. John. Dance is particularly abundant within the city and the surrounding communities. In this catalogue are a collection of newspaper clippings featuring various dance events. This includes articles such as a feature on the 49ers Square Dance Club, photographs of the intermediate jazz dancers from the Northern Dance Theatre Society, and the Fort St. John Scottish Country Dancers.
In 2016 the Performing Arts B.C. Provincial Festival was held in Fort St. John. It was only the second time that Fort St. John hosted this event. Dancers, musicians, speech artists and many others traveled from all over the province to compete in the high level provincial festival.
Attached are newspaper articles and posters involving dancers from Studio 2 Stage Dance Academy and The Move Dance Centre. They are from 2013-2015 and include community events and also explain what was happening with each studio during the years of 2013, 2014, and 2015.
This catalogue contains newspaper clippings about Artspace from 1988 and 1990. During those years, prior to the construction of the North Peace Cultural Centre, the Artspace acted as a focal point for the arts in the city. These files include articles such as the Artvark Summer Program and their Registration Day.
Attached are newspaper articles and posters involving dancers from Studio 2 Stage Dance Academy and The Move Dance Centre. They are from 2011-2012 and include community events such as The Nutcracker. The articles also explain what was happening with each studio during the years of 2011 and 2012.
Because Fort St. John has a lively arts community, there are many opportunities to appreciate and participate in the performing arts. Festivals are one way of doing so. This catalogue contains newspaper clippings related to the North Peace Festival of the Arts (1988-1990) and the BC Festival of the Arts (1989). This includes articles such as a feature on some of the award winners, photographs of the Watt School of Dance Irish dancers, and local residents’ participation in the BC Festival of the Arts.
Attached are newspaper articles and posters related to The Fort St. John Irish and Highland Dancers, The Fort St. John Dance Society and the Northern Dance Theatre Society. The documents are from 2008 and include community activities as well as general news about all Fort St. John dancers during the year of 2008.
The arts and crafts community have been very active throughout the years and are a vital part of Fort St. John and nearby cities. This is evident through the following files of newspaper clippings. It includes articles such as craft workshops for the North Peace Horticultural Society, photographs of the Fort St. John Country Quilters’ work, and news about the North Peace Potters Guild.
Music has been a vital part of the Fort St. John community. This catalogue contains a variety of newspaper clippings regarding some of the music related events and news in the city. This includes articles such as the music week awards, news on the Partly Arts Concert Series, and the Music ’91 Show.
During the 2010 Winter Olympics opening ceremonies, former Fort St. John dancer Brock Jellison performed a tap routine. The 2010 Winter Olympics were held in Vancouver B.C. and the opening show highlighted many British Columbia artists.
