- Peace River North Festival of the Arts
A collection of programmes for the Peace River Zone Theatre Festival (2013, 2017, 2018). They include the schedule, performances/plays, and introduces the adjudicators.
In 1975 the Fort St. John Festival Association put on the North Peace Festival of the Arts. The festival featured local talent competing in various categories. Adjudicators traveled to the community to judge the festival. Performers such as the Charlie Lake Little Squares and Metro Semeniuk participated. This catalogue includes a list of winners and include Connie Hebert and Ambrose Elementary.
Attached are documents related to the Fort St. John Community Arts Council in 1986 and 1987. There are many letters from Sue Popesku and Kevin Truscott to the City of Fort St. John, as well as a 1986/1987 directory of the Fort St. John Community Arts Council’s member groups, and an overview of ArtSpace which was the office of the FSJ Community Arts Council at that time as well as the arts centre for the Fort St. John community.
A sample taken from the Fort St. John Community Arts Council’s strategic plan for the future of arts and culture in Fort St. John. Included in the file are the first few pages of the council’s vision, mission statement, and a brief history.
This catalogue includes letters from Sue Popesku and Linda Scarfo to the City of Fort St. John in 1988, the Fort St. John Community Arts Council’s Board of Directors for 1987-1988, its member groups, and an overview of Artspace. Also included is promotional material for Artspace and the Fort St. John Community Arts Council and promo material for the 1988 Articipation: Student Arts Fair.

Attached are documents and letters involving the North Peace Potters Guild. The documents include a grant application to the BC Cultural Fund in 1974 and letters between the Fort St. John Community Arts Council and the BC Cultural Fund (1975-1976) in response to the Potters Guild’s funding challenges.

In 2017, in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Alaska Highway, Bill Dolan, Kathy Jessup, and Allison Tubman produced The Alaska Highway Road Show. The tour was supported by the Peace Liard Regional Arts Council and performances were hosted by several groups, including the Fort St. John Community Arts Council. This catalogue includes posters and other promotional material and newspaper clippings.
A copy of the Fort St. John Community Arts Council’s Societies Act, including the 1970 certificate of incorporation and the first page of the constitution and bylaws.
NEAT (Northern Environmental Action Team), is a local environmental group. This catalogue includes a letter to the City of Fort St. John, newspaper articles, promotional material, and general information on the group. These documents are from 2004 to 2012.
This document highlights the history of the Fort St. John Community Arts Council from 1974 – 2010.
Attached are some photos involving the Peace Liard Regional Arts Council. The photos are believed to be taken at one of the Regional Juried Art Exhibits. Dates are unknown.
In 2016 a news article was written about how local historians were frustrated that a bylaw to preserve and protect historic sites in Northern BC was rejected by the Peace River Regional District. Many historians were very upset with the lack of support for heritage, arts and culture.
