This compilation of letters regarding the Expo Legacy Project are from 1986. A number of the letters explain and advocate for the need for a Cultural Centre in Fort St. John. A document for the North Peace Regional joint library and theatre. The project came from the Community Centre Committee, a branch organization from the Fort St. John Community Arts Council. This file presents the benefits of a regional vs. public library, statistics of nearby libraries, design ideas, and outlines the history of the project. The idea was brought forward in 1975 before Northern Lights College had a campus in Fort St. John. The arts centre was to include a library, theatre and a college campus. A referendum was held in 1980 but was defeated. This document was created after that referendum.
This file is a letter from Kevin Truscott, President of the Stage North Theatre Society, to Tony Atkins, Chairman of the North Peace Cultural Society. It addresses Stage North’s contribution to the funding and resources of the Cultural Centre.
The North Peace Expo Legacy Project helped in bringing together the North Peace Cultural Centre. This document is a list of the users of the centre and the contributors to the project. It includes the Fort St. John Community Arts Council and many of its member groups such as the Public Library Association and the Workshop Players as well as individual members of the community who contributed to the project.
The two documents relate to the Expo Legacy Project and the design of the Cultural Centre and theatre. The first file is one of the concepts for the floor plan of the centre. It has features such as an art gallery, office, and studio rooms. The second file contains wish lists for features to be added to the theatre. This includes design specifications for areas like the stage, control booth, and dressing rooms. One of the documents is hand written.
