The attached newspaper articles are from High on Ice 2009. The articles talk about the Winter Festival needing more promotion outside of the community. Also attached is a poster promoting an ice carving workshop from professional ice carver, Peter Vogelaar.
These news articles are about Studio 2 Stage Dance Academy as well as The Move Dance Centre in 2008. They talk about the accomplishments of local dancers as well as highlight great local dance events that took place.
These news article clippings are from School District No 60 in 2008. The articles mention North Peace Secondary School, Baldonnel Elementary, Ecole Central Elementary, Bert Bowes Middle School and Robert Ogilvie Elementary. The articles also include the Word Weavers Writers Conference and the Finger Play Exhibition.
The attached newspaper articles are from The North Peace Potters Guild from 2007-2008. The article includes events such as One Hot Night.
As a non-profit, volunteer-based organization, the Fort St. John Community Arts Council has fostered a dedicated arts and heritage program in the community. They have many member groups, events, and programs for the city of Fort St. John and the surrounding area. The following files are minutes from some of the Arts Council’s meetings. They include discussions on events such as, their 50th Anniversary celebration in 2017 and the Peace River Zone Theatre Festival.
In the beginning of the year, the arts council was in search of a new place to call home after the City of Fort St. John sold the building they had been housed in. In October of 2007 they finally moved into their finalized new location and it was introduced to the community as ArtsPost Too.
The Fort St. John Community Arts Council had many events happening throughout the year. The news articles attached highlight what was happening within the arts council in 2007, which included the hiring of a new executive director.
The Fort St. John Community Arts Council is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization dedicated to serving the community through arts and heritage. As an umbrella organization with many member groups, their programs and events require a significant amount of planning. In this catalogue are four files containing some of the Arts Council’s meeting minutes. They include a variety of notes such as planning for the Flower Pot Program, Elves Christmas, and member group reports.
In 2007, the Elves’ Christmas “Festival of Trees” gala was held at the Quality Inn Northern Grand in Fort St. John. There was a dinner, auction and entertainment ballroom. The trees were on display until December 4 and the gala was on December 5. The Fort St. John Arts Council and Moose FM teamed up to put the event together.
The 2007 Canada Day was full of many events including pottery demonstrations, belly dancing, live music, and activities for children. The article by Aleisha Hendry also provide information on the Art of Reduction art exhibit.
In 2007 The Fort St. John Community Arts Council and NEAT put on an art show with pieces created from recycled objects. This catalogue includes both newspaper articles and posters.
Attached are many newspaper articles on the many dancers and dance schools in both Fort St. John and Dawson Creek. The Irish dancers had a very successful year sending their dancers overseas. Studio 2 Stage Dance Academy advertised their annual registration and summer school. The Move Dance Centre enjoyed having LJ Jellison return to teach classes. Some local dancers were offered amazing dance opportunities.
Since 1967, the Fort St. John Community Arts Council has served the Peace River Region by developing and supporting the arts and heritage community. As a result, the organization has many successful groups, programs, and events. In this catalogue are meeting minutes from the Arts Council’s Annual General Meetings from 2016-2018. This includes notes such as reports from member groups and an arts survey of Fort St. John and the surrounding area.
The attached news articles are about the High on Ice Winter Festival. In November, there was an issue with the imported ice for the festival which led to local harvest. In December, the carvings started to take shape, and in January the festival took place.
